Electric fires are transforming ever more sculptural as time evolves, evidence of which these examples of modern gas fire adaptions provide! This design, for example, carries all the fun of a open fire into your room – except the marshmallow roasting – but without the smoke and smell (although some may argue that the smoke and smell are all the enjoyment of a campfire).
So…it’s like an open fire, but without the heat, smoke, smell and facility to burn stuff… so in fact it is deffinatly more like seeing a campfire on television (admittedly in HD). As much as I love the idea behind this design and the originality of the concept, I get the feeling that the thickness of the framing is a total anti-climax; taking into account the fact that it is a fire element, the framing seems to hinder quite a lot of the actual fireplace! This way, it lays centraly betweeen the room-occupier and the gas fires to such an extent that the whole joy of having a fireplace in the middlemost of the floor is all forgotten!
I also can not help but weigh up whether it becomes in the way so gradually… exceptionally after a few mugs of coffee! In fact, tripping into this electric fire might be one of the few things more stupid than falling onto a real campfire!
This alternative instance of a modern gas fire, by contrast, seems to have many the plus points of the prvious, but with out the characteristic pointlessness. By making use of a flue in the centre of the ceiling, this gas fire is also situated in the center of the interior, rather than installed into the wall like a traditional fireplace.
